About Tanya
Artist, cermacist & Certified Kindrêd Teacher (She/her)
Like a lot of people, I grew up watching Bob Ross spread his Joy of Painting happy little accidents, and dreamed of one day filling canvases with landscapes of my own.
But I was busy being a nurse, a wife and a mom, and painting wasn’t something I had space for, and art classes weren’t an option.
I didn’t try my hand at painting until my kids were grown and out of the house, and when I did, the results were mostly disappointing. I TRIED to follow Bob and others, but it felt like a lot of work with little reward. My early paintings were lifeless recreations of the works of others.
Then I discovered a way of painting that allowed my creativity to flow freely.
I stopped worrying that my paintings didn’t look like they should and started staring at them in awe and wonder. How could I have painted THAT?
I started making up for lost time and I now have paintings of all shapes and sizes, which you can buy in The Misfit Shop under Other Artwork.
now, I am excited to announce another artistic avenue, and everyone is invited to participate!
While on a trip home to Chicagoland, in October 2023, I had the opportunity to hang out in a friend’s ceramic shop & immediately fell in love with the whole process of slip-casting & Ceramics.
Since that fateful trip, we have created a studio & a secondary storage/studio & are in the process of collaborating with local businesses to have paint parties & bring the fun to more people.
We hope one day to have a store-front, but until then my Misfit family & I are excited to help bring back the old-fashioned art of Ceramics in any way we can.
